'The Early Years Continued'

1934:- September 24th; The Football pitch was laid out.

October 1st:-The very first Football game was played by Class 2.

19th:- There was a lot of excitement amongst some of the Staff and the Football players, this was the day when the School would be playing there first match against another School which was Weldon Park, and Eastcote Lane won 3-0.

More Children were now at the School making the total 533.

1935:- May:- The School closed for three days for the Jubilee of the King & Queen, every Child was given a Medal and a tin of toffees.

Another 35 Children came up from the Infants.

1936:- January:- When the School reopened more Children had been taken on and now the total had risen to 660.

January 29th:- The School closed along with most other Schools for the Funeral of King George V.

August 28th:- After the School started back after the Summer Holidays the Classes had risen to 14, but that still meant there were as many as 50 Children in a class, The workload on a Teacher under these conditions was enormous.

September:- Because of the rate Children were now entering the School, it meant that the Classrooms were insufficient so the Education Authority had to erect extra Classrooms.

These consisted of Huts placed in the Senior School Playground and they housed four Classes, making the number of Children at Eastcote lane School now up to 709.

1937:- January:- Now there were 15 Classes with 15 Teachers with their own Class, one floating Teacher and Miss Lewis the Head Mistress making 17 Staff and a Caretaker.

May 14th:- At the morning Assembly every Child was presented with a Silver Coronation Spoon, a Book by Stephen King Hall and a ticket for the Grosvenor Cinema, these were given out by Councillor J.L.Munns of Harrow Council.

May the 20th was a special day, The whole School celebrated the Coronation of King George V and Queen Elizabeth.

November saw the School being given a new Flag Pole on the Birthday of the School opening.

1938:- January saw a big change in the number of Pupils attending School, 175 Children had been transfered either to Bourne Senior School, Ruislip Manor, or to Roxbourne Junior School, the idea of this was to bring the numbers in the classrooms down to a reasonable level giving the Teachers the chance to give the correct teaching to each Child.

On the 18th January Harrods fitted the Curtains to the stage and Mr Furnell designed the Monograms on them.

In July of the same year the County Counvcil supplied the School with a Projector, this meant all the Hall windows had to be darkened and it was not until the September that a Cine-Scren was purchased by the School at the princely sum of £2.
